When researching your family trees, be mindful of (1) the types of sources of information and (2) the actual information in those sources. Records across the Mariana Islands -- those that have survived war and typhoons -- include some written in Spanish. Sometimes discrepancies exist with information recorded during the transition from Spanish to the American naming conventions concerning surnames.
SOURCES: Information is gathered from public sources including obituaries, censuses, publications and personal accounts. Every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the information.
PRIVACY: Chamorro Heritage Network (CHN) respects people's privacy. CHN makes every effort to avoid publicizing sensitive information -- such as birth dates and social security numbers -- of Chamorros still living.
ACCESS: All information is free to access. However, any financial assistance is greatly appreciated. (See the
Donate section.) Just click on the letter of the last name you wish to research and see if the name appears on the list. Names are constantly being added.
